    Paul Brindley – in memoriam

    August 2010

    Paul Brindley – Director of UCI South Australia passed away August 2009 after short battle with swine flu. At this time we extend our thoughts and best wishes to all that have been effected by this tragedy.
    UCI SA staff together with Paul’s father Alan Brindley have soldiered on over the last year, continuing to service the SA commercial furniture industry. Alan returned from retirement to step into a MD role with the company during this time. Now as Alan returns to retirement we wish he and his wife much health and happiness.

  2. Leopard Officially Launched in Exclusive Presentations by Okamura

    July 2010

    To promote the release of the award-winning Leopard Chair by Okamura, the UCI state offices hosted a series of state-by-state presentations throughout July. Design industry professionals were invited to exclusive previews in Perth, Hobart, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane. The chair’s designer Ryo Igarashi shared with us during these presentations his inspiration for the Leopard Chair design. Together with Akiko Sudoh, also from Okamura, Ryo provided an insight into some new projects that the global award winning company is working on. Watch this space for further updates of the extensive range of Okamura products.

  5. Lynx II & III – A clever link

    April 2010

    Lynx, Casala’s conference chair range with patented innovative linking system, has expanded with two new shell models. The success of the first Lynx model lead to an expansion of the program. Lynx is now available with three different shells, instead of one.
    Prominent, elegant or slightly arched, these are the Lynx shell options. Emanating from these models are a variety of options. With and without armrests, full upholstery, padded upholstery, synthetic or made of wood. Multiply this by the colour range of materials and fabrics, and a personalised chair appears.
    All Lynx chairs are equipped with the patented linking system, cleverly incorporated in the chairs. By only lifting the chair slightly, moving it to the left and placing it in the frame of another chair, the chairs are solidly linked with no additional handling or tools needed. Chairs and armchairs are also linkable with each other.
    Lynx along with the entire Casala range of seating and tables is available exclusively through UCI Nationally.

    UCI’s innovative TaskAirtm system has been awarded the "Innovation of the year" in the UK Building Services Awards. This award further backs our environmental innovations. TaskAirtm is a world first, delivering controllable, conditioned air direct to the breathing zone of the workstation occupant, through the workstation screens.

  9. Water Corporation - Major First for Transform

    December 2009

    UCI's newly developed system, transform, was recently installed into Water Corporation's major fit out in Leederville, Perth, WA. Specified through GHD Architects, UCI supplied and installed over 200 transform workstations, plus the new Divide22 screen that included a function rail and accessories. 
In addition, mobile caddies and various storage units completed this 
eye-catching fitout.

  10. Unique and Stylish - 'Coral' has Landed

    UCI's latest acquisition, 'Coral' from Dutch company, Harechair, has arrived in Australia.
 This single piece moulded 4 leg chair, available in 7 different colours, is made from reinforced nylon. Suitable for both indoors and outdoors, the stackable 'Coral' is a perfect choice for a variety of situations, whether as a café/restaurant chair, breakout chair, visitors or waiting chair. Designed by well-known Dutch designer, Ton Haas, 'Coral' is also UV resistant. 'Coral' chair is part of the newly released 
Black Book collection.

    It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden passing of UCI SA director, Paul Brindley. 

Paul was highly respected by his staff and peers, and was an integral part of the success of UCI not only in SA but also nationally. A devastating loss, Paul will be remembered for his passion, his intensity and his appreciation for offering the commercial furniture industry quality products and service. He will be sadly missed by colleagues, friends and of course his loving family.

Australian designed and made, transform™ provides high ergonomic resolve with a balance between individual privacy and group dynamics. GECA certified, transform™ can facilitate frequent
reconfigurations and encourage worker communication.

  16. Phase - New Task Chair from UCI

    May 2009

    UCI's Phase ergonomic task chair now comes with 
cold cure polyurethane CFC free foam to the inner back.
Tested to Level 6 (Severe Commercial) by AFRDI (Furntech), 
Phase has recently been specified onto major contracts
around Australia as well as being exported to USA. Locally 
designed and manufactured, UCI's Phase task chair is available 
in 3 different back heights, a synchronised mechanism, with 
seat slide if required, adjustable height or fixed arms and a 
polished aluminium base as options. Phase is currently in the 
process of being GECA certified.

    UCI's new 'Zone' Seating Program is a slick combination 
of desk, visitors and meeting chairs. With a tension 
controlled synchronised action on the desk chair, the 
option of adjustable height arms and polished aluminium 
base, 'task zone' is an economical and ergonomical 
solution with many upholstery options and maximum
comfort. 'Visitor zone' chairs come with either a 4 leg 
or sled base, arms or no arms options, while the stylish
'meeting zone' stacking cantilever chair offers flexibility
for use within many office areas.

    April 2009

    ZBar LED task light from Koncept is ideal for use on a
workstation or desk. With either a clamp desk mount 
or free standing weighted disc, the flexible ZBar has
6 high powered LED's and comes with a built in 4 step 
dimmer as well as a unique, flexible arm.

In 2007, Time magazine named the ZBar LED desk lamp 
one of “the Best Inventions of the Year' and was titled 
“a green light” based on the fact that the ZBar generates
little heat and has a long lifespan compared to
traditional lamps. Koncept ZBar is exclusive to UCI and comes in white, 
silver and black.

  20. Symetrix - New Workstation from UCI

    March 2009

    UCI proudly announces the introduction of our 
GECA certified 'Symetrix' workstation system. 
Having drawn inspiration from its predecessor, 'Metrix', 
with new enhancements, 'Symetrix' now has added 
features which include a dual extruded cable duct plus
a newly developed 'flat foot' leg enabling a mobile drawer 
unit to neatly sit over the top of the leg to create more 
leg room and user space at the workplace. Other unique
features such as a screen to desk stabiliser bracket have
helped develop 'Symetrix' into a user friendly, affordable 
workstation system.
